What is copyright?
Copyright is the protection for original authors from unauthorized use of published or unpublished scientific, literature works, drama, music or art works in any format. Protection extended to all media, including but not limited to books, newspapers, computer programs, CD-ROM resources, recordings, films, radio or television broadcasts, websites or databases....

WHAT DOES COPYRIGHT PROTECT ?

	Written material such as journal articles, novels, poems, song lyrics and reports.
	Artistic works such as paintings, drawings, cartoons, sculpture, craft work, photographs, maps and plans....
	Musical works.
	Drama works such as plays and mime...
	Computer programs.
	Compilations such as anthologies, directories and databases
	Cinematograph films such as feature films, television programs, and commercials....
	Sound recordings such as recorded music or a recorded lecture.

FAIR USE

Customers of the LRC are allowed to make copies of books, newspaper articles but only for research or study purposes without violating the Copyright Law To ensure strict adherence to Copyright Law, all LRC personnel and readers/customers are obligated to respect two following principles:

	For an edition of 10 or more pages, copy 10% of the number of pages, or: One chapter, if the work is divided into chapters.
	For articles from newspapers, magazines or journals, only one can be copied for each publication.
