Information Services Policy
1. MISSION STATEMENT
The Hue Learning Resource Centre strives to support the
learning objectives of the Hue University by providing students,
staff, and researchers with resources, facilities
and professional and technical assistance required to support teaching and learning.
Goals
Provision of teaching, learning, and research materials in a wide variety of formats for use within the LRC and for loan
Access to the online catalogue of the holdings of the LRC
Assistance in the use of information resources
Provision of information skill programs which lead to lifelong learning
To collect resources broadly in all areas of the Hue University core
curriculum and make these resources available to the academic staff,
students and researchers
To develop an information technology infrastructure that can
facilitate access not only to the LRC collection of resources,
but also global information resources
To provide high quality bibliographic instruction and
encourage students to approach the acquisition of information
seeking skills as an important lifelong learning skills
2. SERVICE POLICY
Services offered by the LRC include:
Provision of teaching, learning, and research materials in a wide variety of formats.
This includes monographs, reference books, periodicals, audiovisual materials, and maps
Workstations that have access to the catalogue, Internet and electronic databases
An information service provided by suitably qualified staff
Reserve Collection for high demand items
Copying facilities
Study facilities
3. CLIENTS OF THE LRC
Academic staff and students of Hue University
Special clients under the agreement of the Director of LRC
4. LRC
MEMBERSHIP CARD
All students, postgraduates and academic staff of
Hue University are eligible to use LRC on
condition that they are provided an authorized
card by LRC.
All cards are valid for one year and can be
renewable. Cards are not transferable and
damageable.
Cards are presented to guardians before entering
LRC.
If your card is lost or stolen, notify the
Circulation Desk as soon as possible.

5. BORROWING CONDITIONS
Client must have a
current and valid LRC membership card and does not have any items overdue on his/her record.
Clients must
return borrowed item(s) by the due date.
They are
responsible for any items they are borrowing and will be liable for any lost or damage.

RENEWALS
An item is renewed only once before
the due date
Renewal length of
time is the same as that of the previous loan.
Clients shall renew their item(s) by
themselves via Online Catalogue in “Patron Information”.
8.
FINES AND PENALTIES
Fines are set at 10,000VND per day
for an item overdue.
Fine must be paid in full before the client can borrow, renew or place reservations from the LRC
Notice of the overdue item will be sent by post or email
After 14 days since the due date, a
final notice will be sent accompanied with an account of charges for the full
replacement of the item plus administrative costs.
9.
LOST, DAMAGED ITEMS
If an item is lost, the client will be responsible for the replacement cost as following:

10 times of the replacement cost of the book in addition to administrative and processing charges.

If an item is damaged, staff will assess the extent of the damage and apply a fine accordingly.
Clients will not be eligible to borrow from the LRC until the fine is paid full.
10.
RESERVATIONS AND HOLDS
Holds can be placed on monographs that are currently on loan
Items will be held at the LRC for collection for a period of two days
after which it will either be returned to the collection or fulfill a subsequent hold.
Clients will be notified by email when the item is available.
They can also check the catalogue to ascertain the status of their hold.
11. CONFIDNETIALITY OF LIBRARY RECORD
The LRC respects the right of privacy of all its clients regarding
the use of its resources. The records are related to the membership database, computer searches,
loan transactions and requests for reservations.
Client’s records are deemed confidential and shall
not be disclosed except in circumstances acceptable by the University.
